Academic Program on Islamic Juristic Sciences

The Foundation for Islamic Education pleased to offer a academic program on Islamic Juristic Sciences. This academic program, introduced in a friendly and interactive atmosphere, is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Principles of the Sciences of Islamic Law (usul al-‘ulum ash-Shar’iyah). There will be an emphasis on the historical development with examination of application to current global, intercultural, and social challenges.

The program will serve the following interested parties:

• Imams of Islamic Centers and those who are working in the field of Islamic da’wah. The educational approach will add new aspects to their knowledge.
• Teachers/instructors, intellectual leaders, and people of influence who are helping to explain the message of Islam.
• Administrative leadership of American Muslim community organizations • Muslim youth with special interests in Islamic education.
• Academicians interested in Islamic Studies as a field of specialization, regardless of their religious affiliations.
The program consists of four consecutive courses:
1. Revelation of the Qur’an and its related academic disciplines (‘Ulum al-Qur’an)
2. Fiqhi trends and Development of Islamic Jurisprudence
3. Prophetic Sunnah and Rules of Verification of the hadith according to Jurists and Hadith Scholars
4. Principles of Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh)

Each course is pre-requisite for the following, and will be taught in a three month period.
